5G: Why control and user plane separation is required ? And how it is going to bring better user experience ?

I just know CUPS stands for control and user plane separation but what is the advantage of it ? Has any network operator ever deployed CUPS solution in their network ?

Hi,

When core network has user plan data it will be overloaded and if any simultaneous control plan signal comes it becomes single point failure. So to avoid this congestion if we separate UP-CP, the control plan will be handled by single node where as user plan handled by multi node to improve the efficiency .

Hello,
With the help of control plane / user plane optimization, the signalling messages through the control plane are transmitted and the data packets are transmitted through the user plane. This can reduce the congestion in the RACH procedure.

I am not sure but I think using CUPS architecture, service function chaining can be implemented easily.
We can add as many as user plane node and perform various operations on user data.
Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.
