Relay Node in LTE network acts as an eNodeB to UE and acts as an UE towards Donor eNodeB (DeNB). DeNB is invisible for UEs connecting through Relay node. Since RN is treated as eNodeB by an UE, it will perform RACH to access the cell.

Thanks for the answer. But In MAC specification they have mentioned RN will perform rach in LTE? In your answer i understood Why UE perform RACH towards RN. But Why RN perform RACH?

DCI 0 has no ofRB and MCS values, using these we can find out an TB size then why there is an extra field which is TB size in DCI0.
What is the usage of this field.
