I am assuming that infrastructure means Operating System:
My Choice : Operating System Concepts by Silberschatz, Galvin and Gagne
Alternate Book: Modren Operating Systems by Tanenbaum

If infrastructure means networking then try Computer Networks by Tanenbaum

Thanks ... but instead  of books on specific areas like servers, OS, storage, networks or data-centre, it  would be great if I could get to know about one book that touches all the basic aspects.
Hard to have one book which touches all the stuff, 1st book will basically high level OS, Memory Mgmt, Storage Management. Tanenbaum will basically cover the networking. I doubt if we have single book which touches all the points.

I have below queries about NVRAM, Can someone please help in understanding this?

  1. Is NVRAM part of RAM or a separate hardware?
  2. Set value in NVRAM key can be changed by outside source?
  3. Considering NVRAM as part of RAM then buying new RAM is lot more cheaper than purchasing license for the product, If customer wants then they can change RAM and use product infinitely, Still most of the company/products depended on NVRAM, Why?

I have few questions about Cache Memory

1) My understanding of cache memory is, there are 3 type of cache memory,
1. Within RAM
2. Within CPU (L1,L2,L3)
3. Separate Hardware which is costlier than all others.

Please correct if I am wrong,

2) Who stores the data into cache? I mean, can we write a program which should use only cache memory? If yes then how to do it? if no then who manages that?
For example,
Cache memory within RAM, is it managed by Kernel?(Memory Management Unit)
Cache memory within CPU, is it managed by CPU itself?

3) Why cache memory is faster than RAM?
