LTE : how to configure DRX to get ECGI report ?

+2 votes
2,502 views

I have two cells having same operating frequency with different PCI's. After applying measurement config I got neighbor cell measurement report and then I am triggering for ECGI request but I am not getting ECGI report.

So I am guessing there is problem in configuration of DRX which is used to give proper idle period to UE.

Please help if any one have experience on this.

Just trying to understand what you are trying (not a solution), what I know the ECGI reporting procedure is
1. UE reports PCI to eNB via RRC-Reconfiguration message.
2. eNB request UE to report Eutran Cell Global ID (ECGI).
3. UE reports ECGI by reading BCCH channel.

Now your first step 1 & 2 is fine but you are not getting the step 3. Yes you can check the DRX configuration but is it possible to provide more information.
Looks to be a very personalize query, I am interested to know the solution. Please put the solution if you get the answer.

UE Test Spec does provide a particular test configuration with ECGI measurement
RRCConnectionReconfiguration (step 5, Table 8.3.3.1.3.3-10)
Try this value or try little tweaking in this
36.523 version 9.8.0 release

According to 3Gpp spec 36.331 for EUTRA , in RRC measurement configuration if purpose set to REPORTCGI, then T321 timer will be set to 1 sec.

If this is the case then where UE will use this Drx configuration? Please can any one explain me this...

I have basic handover related query. How source eNodeB get to know when it has to trigger handover required message ? I mean to ask, how a source eNodeB come to know the threshold values of RSRP or RSRQ or both (related to target eNodeB) , required to do a successful handover towards eNodeB ? Is it due to network planning ?

I have gone through the measurement config/ report messages.I found that in meas report UE can send PCI, RSRP, RSRQ, CGI report at a time.

Will UE will send CGI report also at the same time or UE will send only when ENB request UE for the ECGI with the Report ECGI by giving pci ?

I was going through the measurement configuration sends from eNodeB to UE in RRC Connection Reconfiguration message.
I saw that multiple events have been defined and are used. Couple of parameters are considered to detect entering and leaving condition of an event for example event A1. Now I have a question "Threshold and Hys values are same for all the cell or it may different". Does the standard define the value of all these parameters or network operator defines ? If network operator does then what are points to derive these values ?

Unlike for A3 and A5 events, for A6 event frequency offset is not considered while evaluating entering and leaving condition. Can anyone please explain this particular case ?
