When there is a page fault page replacement algo selectes some page to handle the page fault. It can be of two types - Local replacement and Global replacement.
Local replacement means that an incoming page is brought in only to the relevant process address space.
Global replacement policy allows any page frame from any process to be replaced i.e. free to select any page in memory.
