Skype stopped working on my CentOS?

From last one week my skype has stopped working. I can startup but I can't log on. Does this have something to do with the recent update to LibC?

No. This is because Microsoft dropped support for older versions of Skype.

The reason skype stopped working is that Microsoft decided to change its communication protocol in an incompatible way, starting from 1. August.

In order to continue working, all devices running skype (computers, smartphones, etc.) on all operating systems must update to the latest version of skype for their platform. For Linux, its version is 4.3.0.37.

As far as CentOS 6 is concerned, you want to download the latest "dynamic" skype tarball from the skype website [1], and install it as per instructions on the CentOS wiki [2]. Essentially, the installation is the same as for previous versions, no surprises.

Does anyone know if there is a newer version of Skype than skype-2.1.0.81 available for CentOS 32 bit? Recent updates to Skype on other platforms has been causing video connection issues in the last few
weeks.

I am using Ubuntu 14.04 and facing problem with ubuntu? On my machine Skype starts, asks to log in and then presents its list of connections. However after a couple of moments the list of connections gets
"inactive" (greys out) and finally disappears.

In the crash window that then pops up I see that something with libc.so.6 seems to be amiss.

Any idea what I can do to fix the problem and where do I find the info that is in the "crash report window" so I
could add it to this email if needed?

I followed the tutorial available on http://edmondscommerce.github.io/Fedora/getting-skype-working-on-fedora-20.html to install skype on F20. However, when I launch skype it crashes all the time...

version: skype-4.2.0.11-fc16

Any suggestions...

Is there an equivalent for Ubuntu(Linux) Skype? I do not want to use M$ software of any variety, however, I do need to be able to do video conferencing. I believe that iPad users have an app called Facetime... I would assume that a version of that for Linux would work as well, if it exists, I do not have a smart phone either...

Is there a video conferencing application available to us that can interface with Facetime? (I am currently running Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS)
