SC-FDMA is kind of a variant of OFDMA so I wanted to know is it practically possible to deploy SC-FDMA for multiple access in downlink in LTE-A and what will be the negatives of deploying SC-FDMA for downlink instead of OFDMA?

SC-FDMA is the limitation for uplink in LTE technology due to battery consumption. I am just guessing there should not be any problem to implement SC-FDMA in downlink but of course data rate will decrease.

It is just my thoughts. I may be incorrect.

i think, it is practically possible to deploy SC-FDMA for multiple access in downlink in LTE-A . But there is no need of it. because high PAPR issue arises at eNB side not at UE.

I know the reason why OFMDA cannot be used for the uplink but I wonder why SC-FDMA is not used for the downlink. It is still a form of OFDMA technology.
