Blue Check Mark will only appear when recipient has read your message.
If you sent the message in group then it will appear when all recipient in the group has read your message.
You can disable this feature by unchecked 'Read receipts' option in latest version of WhatsApp that is version 2.11.444
Just go to your whatsApp Setting>Account>Privacy and Uncheck 'Read receipts' check box.
