An ODS is designed for relatively simple queries on small amounts of data (such as finding the status of a customer order), rather than the complex queries on large amounts of data typical of the data warehouse. An ODS is similar to your short term memory in that it stores only very recent information; in comparison, the data warehouse is more like long term memory in that it stores relatively permanent information.

An operational data store (or "ODS") is a database designed to integrate data from multiple sources for additional operations on the data. Unlike a master data store the data is not passed back to operational systems. It may be passed for further operations and to the data warehouse for reporting.

I have a mapping which I need to be able to run against multiple source schemas (having the same structure), one schema at-a-time. Given the number of schemas, I would rather not set up a session for each schema in order to specify a particular mapping connection, as that will require new sessions to be added as new schemas are added.

Is it possible to set up a workflow in such a way that the data source connection for a mapping within a session is defined (or passed in as a parameter of some sort) at run-time?
