What are the maximum and minimum number of HARQ re-transmissions in LTE standard?

Did LTE specify the min and max numbers for re-transmissions in HARQ? if so then what is it?

As far as I know, there is no such configuration for maximum number of HARQ retransmissions. The UE will know that it is a retransmission or a new transmission based on NDI which is present in the DCI Format.

However, there is a maximum number of retransmissions at the ARQ level which is configured to the UE. This is applicable to the RLC which is present in the Acknowledged Mode,
