N. K. Jemisin won the Hugo award for best Novel in 2017. She won this award for her novel "The Obelisk Gate", this was her second Hugo award in a row. She had previously won this award on 2016 for her novel "The Fifth Season". She also the first black writer to win a Hugo award in the best novel category.
