Where can I see Himalayas from?

Early August, I want to be able to go to a place to see the Himalayas or go as close as possible.
Where should I go to see and which would be the closest airport?

Best place is Nepal or Uttarakhand to explore the Himalayas,
For Nepal you can go to Kathmandu or for the uttrakhand visit delhi and from there get the taxi. Other interesting place to explore Himalayas would be Indian State Sikkim and airport is Gangtok.
