Mughal Controlled the Kashmir from 1586 to 1752 after that it got into the hands of Sikh (Sikh empire). But from 1586 it was part of Afghan province i.e. Kabul Subah, but Shah Jahan carved it out as a separate subah (imperial top-level province), with seat at Srinagar with Ali Mardan Khan as governor in 1638. Some historical record also state Abul Hassan ‘Asif Khan’ as a first Mughal Governer of Kashmir appointed by Jahangir.
