The Beggar's Opera
The Threepenny Opera was written by Kurt Julian Weill with dramatist Bertolt Brecht and first performed in Berlin in 1928. The Beggar's Opera by the English writer John Gay (first performed 1728), Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) composed by Mozart to a libretto by Schikaneder (first performed 1791), Guys and Dolls composed and with lyrics by Frank Loesser (first performed 1950), West Side Story composed by Leonard Bernstein with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (first performed 1957).
