In the Andes, on the Argentina–Chile border
The highest summit in the complex is about 6,893 m (22,614 ft) above sea level. It is Chile's highest mountain and second only to Argentina's Aconcagua, also on the Argentina-Chile border, which is the highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere at 6,959 m (22,831 ft) according to Argentina's government and the National Geographic Society in the US.
