The Walt Disney Company's 1995 animated feature Pocahontas presented a fictional love affair between Pocahontas and John Smith.

Pocahontas was a Native American notable for her association with the colonial settlement at Jamestown, Virginia.
Her name was Matoaka, known as Amonute, and later known as Rebecca Rolfe.
She died of smallpox in March 1617.
Many said she died of smallpox, pneumonia, or tuberculosis or may be poisoned.
