It is a well known fact that, Diabetes is a disease which can only be controlled and not cured. Thus, overcoming Diabetes is quite not possible. With increasing stress and unhealthy food habits, the risk of getting diabetes manifolds. However, a perfect workout regime and certain foods mentioned below will definitely bring a major impact controlling it.

Blueberries

This is one of the best fruits that a diabetic patient can have because of its many blood sugar benefits. As per a recent study it was discovered that a cup of blueberries everyday helped the body get bioactive ingredients that increased sensitivity to insulin. Not only is it beneficial in healing diabetes to a great extent, it is also a preventive measure for those with family history of this disease.

Avocados

Yes Avocados are high in fat, but with the good ones, which are easily absorbed by the body and won’t show on the wrong side of the weighing scale. The high dose of monounsaturated fats found in avocados is ideal for releasing slow sugar into the bloodstream, which further reduces insulin release. Have it as a dip or even in your sandwich or salad. But remember that 1/4th of an avocado is the recommended dosage for sugar patients.

Cinnamon

According to a 2003 study in 'Diabetes Care’ journal, it was revealed that cinnamon could aid the muscle and liver cells in responding better to insulin. Not only does it induce weight loss, but also the body is able to absorb more of insulin and this balances your blood sugar levels as lesser insulin is released. In particular, the Ceylon cinnamon helped fight cardiovascular diseases, which are a core problem with diabetic patients. Have 1/2 spoon daily with milk, water or even in other food forms.

Similarly there are other very few foods that bring down the sugar levels in a Diabetic patients, moderation is the key in any case!

If you want to reverse type II diabetes or prevent diabetes, I suggest you add the following foods into your diet.

High fiber foods help slow down glucose absorption. Aim for at least 30g of fiber per day from vegetables, avocados, berries, nuts, and seeds.

Foods high in chromium can improve GTF glucose tolerance factor in your body and naturally balance out blood glucose levels. Broccoli, raw cheese, green beans and grass-fed beef are all high in chromium, however broccoli has the highest amounts by far.

MCFA’s found in coconut and red palm oil can help balance blood sugar levels and be a preferred fuel source for your body rather than sugar.

Wild-caught fish contain omega-3 fats and reduce inflammation which can help counteract some of the negative effects of elevated blood glucose.

Foods with a low glycemic load tend to not spike blood sugar as much as high glycemic foods. Low glycemic foods include vegetables, nuts, seeds, avocados, coconut, organic meat, eggs, wild caught fish and raw pastured dairy.

Sprinkling herbs like cinnamon, turmeric, and parsley on your food may also help balance blood sugar levels.
