The present ages of two persons differ by 35 years. 3 years later, the elder one would be 4.5 times as old as the younger one. What is the present age of the elder person?

Let x be the elder person and y be the younger person
At present x-y=35. =>y=x-35
After 3 years x=4.5y
x= 4.5(x-35). =>x= 45
So the age is 45
