Then;

14 + 11 + 9 = ?

1 + 9 + 11 = 1 (if we add all the numbers means it is 21, then 2-1=1)
12 + 11 + 9 = 1(if we add all the numbers means it is 32, then 3-2=1)
Likewise 14 + 11 + 9 = -1(if we add all the numbers means it is 34,then 3-4=-1)
