Based on the profiles, RoHC is applicable to those specific data packets IP/UDP/RTP/TCP/ESP. These profiles are used for identifying packet headers.

Thanks Ganesh to spend your time and sharing your knowledge. I have one related question "Does the eNodeB perform ROHC for multi casting and broadcasting data as well ? " If yes then fine and if not then why ?
On my understanding on RoHC, its used to overcome the header size overhead in end to end data call.

For Multicasting/broadcasting its of no use I guess. Because RoHC technique is having its states and at the start it will be sending whole data, later header will be compressed and header size can be reduced over the communication with decompressor.

Can I know why you are expecting RoHC for MCasting/BCasting?

Thanks - Ganesh

As Ganesh mentioned it is based on the profiles and for each qci bearer.

Usually it is applied for QCI1 bearer in the field.

I found 1st bit which is used to indicate that packet carrying Data/Control information. My question is that why first bit is used even packet itself known as "PDCP Data PDU".

MBMS Data receives from MBMS-GW to eNodeB module interfacing towards MBMS-GW. It removes GTP-U header and sends data to lower layer i.e RLC. As per my understanding so far, RLC does segmentation and re-assembling for the received upper layer PDU to make it fit into MAC PDU. Now I want to know, Does the same concept applicable for MBMS data also or for RLC it is transparent mode transmission.

Which format is used by RLC for the MBMS transmission ?
