Consider 2 UEs is calling 2 other UEs respectively at the same time. If the 2 UEs that are called are in idle mode, and MME sends the paging message to both the UEs tracking area. Then how does MME will handle both the UEs paging messages at the same time???

Hi,

MME will have Paging identity for every UE. So whenever multiple UE paging comes MME will give array of UE identity to ENB for the broadcast.ENB also broadcast more than one UE paging message in one sub frame by doing muxing at MAC.

Hi  Jaganathan, As far as I know MME sends paging message to eNodeB per UE. Do u have any reference which says MME can send paging message for set of UEs together ?
Hi,
RRC will forwars multiple UE paging message at a time, But MME not sure at a time will it give or not.Maybe one by one it may give.I checked IE, no support for multiple UE paging in one s1ap paging message to ENB.
means RRC will send paging message for a set of UEs together in 1 subframe??
Yes, paging message can contain more than one UE dl notifiaction.

Consider if eNB is sending DRX cycles to your UE and therefore you will be not listening to PDCCH. Now if MME sends paging messages of that UE, then how UE will be able to receive the paging message? After DRX cycles UE can start listening but MME might have stopped sending paging messages. How this is handled in LTE???

When the MME sends a DL NAS message is the connection between MME and UE held long enough just to receive the message ? What happens if there are back-to-back NAS messages to be delivered, does the the UE open a connection to MME and receive all the messages at once. Or does it open close the connection to get each of the messages separately.
