LTE: Why radio sub frame is 1 ms long ? Is it possible to bring the sub frame duration in the unit of microseconds ?

We know LTE scheduler works at the 1 millisecond level . Why it does not work at the 0.5 ms (slot) level ?

Hi,

yes we can do it, they were trying to make it to 100microsecond. But the problem is within 100ms ENb have to finish its SF job, like scheduling and mux and UL scheduling etc. to finish these job currently ENB need at least 500 to 700 microsecond, these timing depends on the platform you use if you have very good multiprocessing system then you can make it to 100ms.
If you reduce the SF timing then UE has to decode every 100ms then this leads to another problems like UE capability and battery drain etc.
