How about the min/max distance between two EPC nodes in the field?

How about the connection ? Is it direct or through IP operator services ?

I meant connection of MME to SP or S to PGW ....

I hope I understood your question correctly -
There is no limitation on the distance between two nodes but as you know cabling is a far bigger and costly problem then the node itself so each operator minimize the cost of operation but keeping the nodes at correct places.

If underlying IP network is secure i.e. same vendor then there is no need to IPSec (or similar) between two nodes if underlying network is not secure and rented (which is mostly the case) the connectivity is secured using IPSec or something similar.

I could not understand your last question, please make it clear...

How MME will communicate with SPGW ? Direct connection or indirect ?

And how about other nodes [SGW to PGW then PGW to PCRF ]
It is less likely that two nodes are connected directly without any intermediate router, imagine the cabling cost. Though technically its feasible but in practice it is not.
In general two nodes (I will stress any two nodes) always connected via list of routers for even small distances.
thanks for your info Salil.
