3GPP specification depicts many different interfaces such as S6a, Sh between different network nodes and HSS. This is a logical separation of nodes. It is up to vendors and operators requirements how they want to manage their HSS components.
If their hardware resources are sufficient and can serve all the interfaces in a single node then operator would be go through this way. If existing hardware is not enough to handle million of sessions through different interfaces at HSS then either operator would ask vendor to split the HSS or it'll go to buy new hardware.

Hi Shyam,
One HSS can be suffice the requirement for both the technology LTE as well as VOLTE.
There is no need for separate HSS.

Thanks

Whenever a new technology comes it provides better user experience. Since the role out of a new technology requires a lot of money investment. It makes services expensive for users. For what reasons an operator would like to deploy VoLTE when it is already have Circuit switch fall back for voice services. In India, Reliance Jio is a new player in telecom market that's why it is rolled out VoLTE since it was not having any legacy technology to provide voice services. What about others ? Are they deploying VoLTE just for the namesake that they also support VoLTE or really there is a need for that ?
